Navajo artist Dane Brown Handmade the Arizona Kingman Turquoise Dragonfly Ring. Dane Brown hand cuts each stone to set into the Sterling Silver bezels. The body is made of stone finished with a classic satin finish and drops of Sterling Silver beads. The dragonfly is place on a three wire shank allowing the ring to lay easy on any finger. The ring is stamped with a Sterling Silver stamp and the artist Hallmark.
Dane Brown is a local Navajo artist from the New Mexico Reservation. He has been silversmithing for over 30 years creating traditional and contemporary Jewelry. Dane enjoys working with all natural stones from Turquoise, Spiny Oyster, and Coral. He is a master at creating old style jewelry with his classic satin finish and his old style technique. He is related to a long line of silversmiths including Kirk Smith, Herman Smith, Nelvin Burbank, Calvin Martinez, Rick Martinez, Terry Martinez, Rick Martinez, Leon and Jess Martinez, Ernest Begay, and Lee Charley.
The Dragonfly represents the transformation and life’s constant change. The Southwest Indians call the dragonfly the “snake doctor,” as they believe the dragonfly follows the snake and will stitch them back together when they are injured. For the Navajo tribe they believe the dragonfly is a symbol for pure water.
